Space Saving and Storage Boosting for Your Bathroom

If you have a small bathroom that is shared between multiple people then storage space may be as precious as gold. With shampoos and conditioners piled high and having to stockpile toilet roll in any available space, a new storage solution or space saver would be really handy. Here are our top tips:

Lighting

A small room can feel smaller if it is dim and dingy so open it up with adequate lighting. Remove any drop light fittings and fit halogen spots that are flush with the ceiling to save on space.

If the room is still quite dark then maximise your natural light. Take down any window fittings, such as curtains or blinds, and have your windows frosted instead. This way you will maximise light without compromising on privacy. If your bathroom is in an extension then you may be able to fit a skylight in the roof for maximum light.

Light colouring may also make a room feel brighter and bigger. Paint the walls in a cream or pastel shade and fit a white bathroom suite. You could even have lightly coloured tiles or ivory marble Geo panels fitted.

Clever Storage Bathroom wall panels and a towel rack

When space is at a premium it is important to get clever with storage. Place hooks on the back of the bathroom door to hang dressing gowns and towels or add a hanging organiser for toiletries. Alternatively you could purchase a radiator which doubles as a towel rail – this way your towels will be warm when you wrap them around yourself.

If you have bottles littering the side of your bath or the floor of your shower then invest in a chrome corner racking system. These will often have suckers on which will attach to your tiles or Geo panels, without causing damage, and are easily removed.

You could even have your toilet cistern built into the wall to save space; or if this is not possible have a shelf built encasing this and providing you with more surface space.

If you are handy with a hammer and nails then you could build a cabinet surround to your bathroom sink. This will encase any plumbing making the room look tidier and can also double as a home to keep toilet roll, the toilet brush and bathroom cleaning products.

Space savers

If you enjoy a bubble bath then you may not like this suggestion – remove your bath and fit a shower unit instead. This will save you a considerable amount of space. You could even get rid of the shower unit and create a wet room!
